This is our final week in our marriage series “Things I Wish I Had Known”. We have heard why commitment is crucial in marriages, yet marriage is much more than commitment, and we’ve seen that thriving marriages requires grace from the Author of grace. This week we look at the friendship that exists between the two, and that friendship is something at which we must work.
The writer of Ecclesiastes says to “enjoy life with the woman whom you love all the days of your life” (Ecc. 9:9). He did not say “if you enjoy”, or “get through life”. Rather, this is a wise imperative for the one who fears God, and who desires to be faithful to Him with the blessing of a spouse.
